When I went for my ultrasound the umbilical cord was in the way so the Doctor actually asked me to lie on my left side to see if it would move. I was there for a long time while the doctor was nice enough to keep trying to get a good picture so that we could tell the sex. We were told 98% sure that the baby is a boy, the umbilical cord never did move enough for the 100%. If you really want to know then go ahead and ask if you can lie on your side to get the baby to move. It's really up to your Doctor if they'll make the extra effort to find out. Congratulations and God bless you and your baby.

You sure can. I did although it didn't help. I just had my second ultrasound and was told to drink a mountain dew before hand to get the baby moving. It worked great. I would suggest you try it. I know how disappointing it can be not to be able to find out at the first ultrasound. Luckily my doctor needed to do another one to get all the views they needed so I was able to find out last week that we are having a baby girl. Good luck.

i wouldnt worry about it yet you normally get at least 2 ultra sounds during your pregnancy. i am 38 wks and lol still dont know what im having due to the baby having its back in view in stead of face and belly my first ultrasound i was 14 wks couldnt tell, my second ultra sound i was 5 months couldnt tell do to baby being breech but down and babies back and back of head is about all we could see then lol had one last week still breech and still dont know. she said what she could see looked like a girl but its not a 100% because she couldnt get a good look. and i didnt get very good pics either due to mainly seeing the back of babies head. i would really like to know what im having that way i know im getting the right clothes instead of all girl and it be a boy or the other way around,

Well....my baby doesnt want to show the sex of him or her either,...my dr. tried pushing on my belly to get the baby to shift. Sometimes the baby is just too shy. Ask at your next appoint ment if the DR can try again. My dr. said yes. It means I have to wait 3 more weeks but hey, it will be worth it I am sure.

At my gender determination ultrasound with my daughter, she had her legs closed tightly and wasn't willing to show the goods! The Ultrasound tech had me get up and move around, drink some water, and lay on my side instead of my back! Most of the time, unless your ultrasound tech is cranky ;) they are willing to help you find out the gender of your little one, even if it means you have to get up and extend the session!

Hope you find out! :)

They will try very hard to make the baby move so they can find out the sex for you..

They can make several attempts, but sometimes, the baby just isn't going to compromise. Maybe you can get another sonogram later in your pregnancy.
