If it's hard to sell it's due to a couple of reasons. 1) there is no market for the product because it isn't that useful, 2) the product is perceived as being very similar to existing products, 3) the consumer doesn't understand the value the product creates, 4) the product is overpriced relative to it's perceived value, 5) your marketing plan is flawed.

as with any other product, you must sell it for more than it cost you to make or acquire it, thus you make a profit.
