Is the world going to end in 2012?

This question was recently posed to me and I searched the Internet for the answer. In all the sites I looked at scientists and clergy alike all agree that life as we know it will end in 2012 and new beginnings will emerge. There is talk of the next ice age beginning in 2012. There is talk of global warming causing massive climate changes that essentially destroy the cropland and food will be scarce. This will cause global wars with everyone fighting over what few resources are left. This is to preceed 2012, with the shift in the earth's magnetic pull the polar caps will most likely shift and come to fall on the Equator. The Mayan Calendar ends on December 21, 2012 and as accurate as this is, many people believe something will happen. The planets will all be aligned and some say it opens the window for aliens to come through.

No, the world isn't going to end in 2012; however, it will definately be a shift to life as we know it. If you really want to know, google the Mayan Calendar and/or 2012 prophecies.

Time will tell for sure and I am going to be prepared.

The Mayan calendar goes into another era in 2012. Also, the X-Files said the aliens were coming back in 2012. So, no, probably not.

Lots of people have said the world will end at ________. Fill in your own time. It hasn't happened so far. Why would 2012 be right when all the other predictions have been wrong?

Oh, hey, I saw on the History Channel today what is going to happen in 2012 astronomically speaking (if it makes a difference as far as the world ending): every 26,000 years, the Sun lines up with the rift in the middle of the Milky Way. Also, the Earth will complete a "wobble", lining up differently with the universe or something. So the Mayans thought that the rift in the middle of the Milky Way was the doorway to the Underworld (uh, okay...though why is the Underworld way out away from Earth? Shouldn't it be, like, in the middle of the Earth? Anyway.)

They had a thing on the side of the ball court, I think at Chichen Itza. Not that I remember seeing this when I was there, but maybe it was at another site. Where I also didn't see it. Anyway, there was a guy being decapitated, and blood was spurting from his neck in the form of snakes. There was a ball with a death symbol on it (a skull with blood or something flowing out of its mouth. Ancient Mayans loved them some skulls. They're all over the place at Chichen.)

Some scholars think that the death-ball game is actually a representation of the creation myth, where the original Time Father got tricked by the Underworld gods, then his twin sons went and saved him by the death-ball game and resurrected him. So all that might be a representation of the Sun lining up with the rift--like the ball and the hoop in the game. Maybe the thing that started everything will also be the way it ends.

No one knows. And I seriously doubt that it would end in 2012. I think that we still have a long ways to go until that day comes, at least 100 years, maybe. I don't know, I'm just guessing. But with all the major diasters happening around the world and all the bad stuff happening and stuff getting worse everyday then I think that's a sign from God. But I don't know how the world's gonna be like in 3000 or if the world would have already ended. Who knows. Only god. But it's hard to think about how the world's gonna be like in 3000 or even 100 years later if it hasn't ended by then. But this question is something no one here on earth can answer with an accurate answer or even an accurate guess. But I think it will be a long, long time before the world ends on earth.

It is a theory that is being tossed around stating that on December 21, 2012 the world is going to end. It is bassed on a knowledge that the Myan Calender (calender that the myans used prior to their demise) will run out. The calendar uses B'ak'tun's which are cycles and history states that each time a cycle turns over, a world (or a B'ak'tun cycle) event occurs. A possibility is that since this is the end of the short Myan Calendar, the world my end, but the majority of people believe that an Earth tragedsy will occur but not the end of time.

We are only living the times described in 2Timothy 3:1-5, The Beast has not yet turned against Babylon the Great - Worl Empire of False Religion. Read the Book of Zephaniah Chapter 1 verses 14 and 15. The great day is coming, people are trying to hurry it very much.
The day will be one of fury, darkness, distress, anguish, one of clouds and thick gloom.
Read the Book of Ezekiel Chapter 38 and verse 23. The Lord will magnify himself and make himself known and we will have to know who he is.
Hurricane Katrina, the Asian Tsunami in 2004, Hurricane Ivan in Grenada - all of those bring to my mind a clear picture of where our loving computers, jeeps, big houses, banks, churches and all hospitals will go - Thick gloomy mud. WE WILL ONLY ESCAPE WITH THE SKIN OVER OUR BODIES. Let's hope that most of us have a certain measure of faith hidden deep in our hearts and a solid fear of the ONE who will take charge of his world, when he will show us his chosen king for a brand new governemt to rule the entire world and abyss our Enemy.

The Mayan calendar was extremely advanced for the time period, and they accurately depicted events far into the future with thier methods.

It's just as possible as anything else.
