As soon as you want!

I have to disagree with buying formula and diapers however. What are you going to do when your baby cant take that type of formula??? What happens if the brand of diapers causes an allergic reaction??? What if that certain brand doesn't fit your baby's shape and they leak??? Have fun sitting in those customer service lines with a new born! If you want to "save" for diapers or formula why not open a savings account, buy gift cards etc.

Id also watch out for second hand baby items. Theres no guarantee on how old the item is, if its been taken care of correctly, or if its even been used properly. Id only take in second hand items from friends or family members that you can trust with your baby's safety. To me saving a few bucks just isn't worth the risk.
