Well, if you already have DecemberUnderground, I say you make your way back down. Just so you won't get a shock, because older AFI albums are very different and don't sound like Decemberunderground.
Their oldest albums are more punk, their middle more hardcore, after that they become more like dark punk. Their latest one takes on a more anthemic quality.

Personally, my favourite is Black Sails in the Sunset, but I think you should stick to Sing The Sorrow. You won't be sorry on this one, especially if you've just gotten into them.

I have Decemberunderground, Sing The Sorrow, and The Art of Drowning. My favorite is Sing The Sorrow. I bought Decemberunderground first and then went backwards, too. Yeah, so you should probably start with Decemberunderground and then work backwards. But all of these cds are great.

Like most older AFI fans will say, you should probably start with "Sing the Sorrow" and then go backwards, because if you go out and buy "Very Proud of Ya", you'll proabably go into culture shock of something, so yeah do that. Also I agree with a_fire_inside_aod......Black Sails in the Sunset IS their best album :)

well i can't tell you what to get, but i would get black sails in the sunset, but all there other cd's are really great, so i don't think you would make a bad mistake by buying a different album then this one. but if you want to listen to their new songs get decemberunderground, this is a great one too, miss muder is on this one and love like winter.

in case you like Decemberunderground, then your terrific guess could be Sing the Sorrow. it extremely is whilst they began dropping a lot of their hardcore sound. yet, truthfully, the older AFI albums (till now STS and DU) are the terrific. i'm uncertain in case you like them pondering the variety of music you mentioned you liked. So.. purchase Sing The Sorrow and a couple of songs off of their older albums
