Not making a judgement here, I just think it's a legitimate question. If your born retarded, autistic with one arm, both sexual organs, they're all considered birth defects. Couldn't homosexuality since it goes against the progression of the species and nature be also considered a defect?

There is no proof that it is genetic or 'natural'....

Without definite proof, it can not be termed as a birth defect

Good question! As far as religion goes, since when has scientific knowledge altered the beliefs of those who cling fiercely to religious dogma? People who hate gay people because of a literal reading of their religious texts will continue to hate gay people regardless of what scientists discover. There would only be a risk if there were indeed a "gay gene", and I don't believe that there is a single gene (or even group of genes) that determines sexual orientation. I believe that is a complex cocktail of factors that we may never fully unravel, especially since sexual orientation is a gradient, not a binary "straight/gay" paradigm. Unfortunately, even if we discover some genes that have a very high correlation with homosexuality, this may lead to some bigoted parents opting to abort those babies. So could that lead to a decline in gay population? Probably not in any sort of a material manner. I don't think that lobbying by LGBT rights groups will lead to anything other than an increased tolerance for diversity of sexual orientations. When Generation Y rules the world, questions like this will be totally irrelevant!

In that context it could be but homosexuality is more of a psychological "defect" then a physical defect. You would have to believe that thoughts are a undeveloped organ being train, instilled, into growth.

I believe in the theory, which I have yet to hear, of thoughts/concepts being actual organs within the body that are undeveloped at birth. I am not saying it should be considered a science as the subjectivity would denounce that ability but you would have a case to say the ability to reasoning is while reasoning isn't.

Don't you think that the human race is more advanced than just "the advancement of the species" I mean we are top of the food chain, the thinking chain, we invent things, reason with logic, we have imagination. I don't think we are having any population problems. I don't think the human race is in danger of extinction any time soon. You're thinking is akin to caveman times.

We have sex for recreation and not for just procreation.
Do I have a sexual birth defect because I have been married for 8 years and have chosen not to have kids?

Is hair color a defect? Eye color? Height? No? Well, you can't choose what hair color you'll be born with, eye color, how tall you are - and you can't choose your sexual orientation. You're born either straight, gay or bi.
No, it's not a defect. Calling it a defect is basically saying anyone who isn't straight is wrong and "bad" in some way. Would you discriminate against someone based on hair color?

Well, if homosexuality were not abundant in society for centuries you might have a point. however, homosapiens are not the only species who exibit homosexual tendencies. Zoos have been documenting this lately. Besides, children have no idea what sex is until they are introduced to the idea in one way or another. IT is no birth defect... and never will. America will never use disability dollars for 'gays'

I don't believe that homosexuality is a birth defect. I also don't believe that it's a learned trait. I have friends and a couple of relatives who are gay and I have heard them all say, at one time or another, that they knew they were gay from the minute that they became sexually aware. It's just a trait, not a defect.

Before your first sexual experience with the opposite sex (and I am assuming you have had one) how did you know you were straight?

How did you know you were attracted to girls and not boys? Why did you flirt with girls? Find them attractive? Want to kiss and flirt with them?

Were you maybe just BORN straight? It works the same way for gay people, but of course you have no empathy for other human beings thoughts or feelings, you just want to judge them.

I feel sorry for homosexuals, because I see them as people in denial of a mayor problem in their lives, which they are trying to excuse as a "life style" when it is clearly a defect, but that is ok as long as they would understand and accept it for what it is a defect since NO ONE is perfect.

I go by Natures Laws and it says that sex is mainly an act of procreation, requiring (in our species) a male and a female. That is Nature Law I didn't invent it or made it up, etc.. So if we look at gay marriage we see that gay marrieage is a relationship whose core is the homosexual sexual relationship between 2 individuals of the SAME sex, incorrect by the basic mechanics of Natures Laws regarding sexual attraction.

Now I hear about "well we love each other", and that is fine, love between people is a beautiful thing (we could use more of it in this violent and primitive world) I, for example, have many friends of the same sex that I love dearly, BUT in my case I do NOT want to go to sleep with them, my sexual attraction is for the opposite sex (my wife in my case, who I love dearly and who "rocks my world") and NOT for any member of my same sex, this is what I call correct sexual attraction funtioning. So to love one another is ok, my problem is when that love is just more than spiritual and extends to a sexual attraction between to individuals of the same gender, incorrect attraction by Natures Laws.

You all have to remember that NOTHING is perfect, and that everything in this reality we live in there are defects, and we all have them, seeing them in different aspects of our beings and funtioning, and in the case of sexual funtioning, some percentage of the population is going to be defective, meaning the "friend or foe" sexual attraction detectors in their heads may be crosswired, getting them turned on in the presence of the same sex when that shouldn't happen. Now, this is ok as long as the homosexual would realize, "hey my defect is kicking in, I better control it or get medical help and correct it", this a good advice on any disfuntioning we have examples:..."I want to smoke, but I know I shouldn't, so I will get help"..or "I am violent, so I better see a doctor to work on my violence tendencies.." or "I eat to much so I should watch my diet or go to a doctor to get help.." etc..

My point is we all have defect, and I personally have some (the weight one), but as long as we ALL admit out flaws and work on them we are doing good, my problem is when people do NOT want to correct the burden they bring with them into this life and want to take the easy road..." it is a life style" excuse, instead of seeing it and calling it for what it is something you have to work on to better yourself and be in harmony with Nature...!

Welcome to our imperfect world folks...welcome!

I think it is more of a choice than a birth defect. Just like people choose to kill or steal. Those things are against the progression of the race. So I believe that homosexuality is just a choice. Right or wrong choice just depends on who you are.

No. Otherwise the Bible would be contradictory. It's a choice, same as if I choose to be an adulterer, both are sins. Everyone has the right to choose but some make wrong choices, and I'm sometimes hypocritical.
