An operational plan is an annual work plan. It describes short-term business strategies; it explains how a strategic plan will be put into operation (or what portion of a strategic plan will
be addressed) during a given operational period (fiscal year). An operational plan is the basis for and justification of an annual operating budget request. Therefore, a strategic plan that has a
five-year lifetime would drive five operational plans funded by five operating budgets.

First of all, keep this in mind. Do NOT get overwhelmed by the big terms. Psychologists like to make big words for simple things. Why? Who knows. All it means to operationally define your study is to tell EXACTLY what you are doing. So for instance, you need to go into more detail about "sleep quality" and "academic performance." Be specific! Psychologists like lots and lots of detail! The more detail the better! So, think about this.. Sleep quality: What do you mean by sleep quality? How long they sleep? How long they spend in REM? How their brain waves look on a read out? Academic Performance: Is this a longitudinal study (a study over a long period of time)? If so, what are you going to look at? Overall GPA? GPA for just that year? If it's not, then what are you basing "academic performance" on? How well they do on a test? How well they do in a class? How well they do in a semester? How well they do on a test that YOU will administer? How well they take a test? in other words, do they ritch around a lot? Do they fidget and sweat? Details Details Details!
