In the beginning people were probably sincere about the question, but now seeing all the replies and hype, they ask the question just to see the angry answers they get.
It's really childish if you think about it.

Why do people ask questions about questions posted by others on Yahoo Answers? If you have more questions than that, I hope they're better that bagging on others. If someone feels the need to ask a question and others feel like addressing the answer, it's all good. I've passed by questions I've seen several times and then again sometimes I look to see if there are any new answers from a point of view I never thought of before. 'The meaning of life', I can think of worse questions, but I'll just pass them by if I see them.

Disagree. The philosophy section of Yahoo Answers is as good a place as any to ask the meaning of life. No one can say for certain. They can only give opinions, feelings, theories. The greatest philosophers in history were only guessing. Maybe one of the answers will be just what they were looking for. Who knows? This forum is open for anyone to ask anything. So let them. No harm. Even if they never know the answer, they can learn different viewpoints & develop their own. All that any of us can do is strive to learn, form our own opinions & hope for the best. It can't hurt to ask. Ask on the internet, ask in a coffee shop, ask your loved ones, ask the sky, whatever works for you. Once you stop asking questions, you stop learning, growing, living.

I disagree with you. I know so many people who are lost and need a friendly shoulder to cry on or some advise to help them find their way.
I'm very confident and content with my life and have many friends that gather strength from my perception of the meaning of life.
They want to know how I got to where I am in life. Life is hard. You work at making it as good as it can get.
I think most people on yahoo answers are here to help when they can . . . . .with the exception of those that haven't a clue how to answer a question and put some thought into their answer.
Everyone that has ever lived, has wondered, one time or another what life means to them.
“ If you don’t know where your going.
Any road will take you there.”
George Harrison
If you don't want to answer, be cool and skip to another question.

Disagree. The answer to the meaning of life has been puzzling mankind since the beginning of time. Yahoo Answers is world wide. If someone wants to ask that question here, there would be a variety of cultures and religions that could have a very interesting way of explaining it, if in fact they can do so. Open your mind and broaden your horizens.

You seem to be a rather disgruntled little man. Why ask ANYTHING on Yahoo! Answers? Lighten up.
The whole point of discussion is to get other people's ideas. Hopefully nobody is taking anybody's answers on here as "Gospel" but it's still always interesting and sometimes enlightening to see some of the various different opinions expressed by the diverse grouping of people who visit this site.

The meaning of Life
There was a man who worked in the stock market but was always wondering what was the meaning of life. The question persisted so much that he gave up his job and started traveling the world in quest for the answer. After traveling to many lands, he was directed to a holy man so many of whom he met said knew the answer he was seeking. He was pointed the way - up a huge mountain top. He climbed and climbed up the mountain, camping along the way - taking him days and days to finally come to the top. He saw there was a small cave entrance in the distance. He staggered to the cave and peered into the darkness. Far in the back of the cave he saw a man sitting amounst the rocks with a small fire. He approached the man and knelt and said.
"I have traveled many miles to find you. I understand you know the meaning of life. Could you please tell me.'' The little man looked up and smilled and said, " Life is a fountain" ... With this news the seeker jumped up! "Life is a fountain", he exclaimed... "Life is a fountain"... as he ran out the cave... "Life is a fountain"... as he ran down the mountain... "Life... is .. a fountain....life is a fountain???????
Huh?
He stops. Looks up to the top of the mountain. Starts to climb back up the mountain. Walks to the cave, back to the little man sitting before the fire and kneels. "Excuse me." he says. " But I just asked if you knew the meaning of life and you told me life was a fountain."
The little man looks up and says,"Life isn't a fountain????
