My mom told me that for some time now she has been seeing black dots all the time. She says it looks like dust particles that are just stuck there. What does this indicate? I'm worried about her and she is putting off going to the eye doctor. Is this a sign that she is going blind?

My aunt had something similiar and the eye doctor told her it was "floaters". Floaters are red blood cells in the the jelly (vitreous humour sp?) in the eye. Doc told her it was due to old age. Hmm, let me find a link for you....... OK, here's one. Hope it helps out!

Even if an eye doctor answers this they'll tell you the same thing. Make her an eye appointment yourself and make her go. The appointment should cosrt less that $100.00. Eye health is so very important. It doesn't sound like how blindness starts but there are so many other things it could be.

Did you know a tumor behind her eyes can cause stuff like that?

These are called floaters and are normally harmless. She should see an eye doc but if her yearly exam will be soon say within the next 3-4 months that is fine.
