With the movie "300" coming up, I procured a copy of Frank Miller's 300 Graphic Novel. Needless to say, I was quite impressed. I dabbled in comic books as a junior high aged kid, but I traded them in for actual books (and video games).

Now I find myself back at square one. I'm not interested in reading the monthlies of superhero comics, but am very interested in reading other actual "graphic novels". Any suggestions on ones to look into?

Also, I've never been into Manga or anime. It's dizzying at best and not very intriguing.

Lots of choices.

Preacher
Swamp Thing (Alan Moore's run)
Kingdom Come
Fables
The Dark Knight Returns
Transmetropolitan
Watchmen
Sandman

That should be enough to get you started. Still, there's plenty more...

Well, I personally enjoy manga. pronounced like 'fawn- guh(change 'f' to 'm'), manga are Japanese comics. I think they are much more interesting than American comics such as Superman or X-Men, but you know what, don't take my word for that, as I have never actually read American comics. I really only read Japanese ones.

Some of them are for younger kids, and some of them are...ah hem.... more adult, shall I say? They have a wide range of topics, from super human people, to gay love affairs.

I implore you to try some of them out. If you are a boy, try something with more action such as Dragon Ball Z or Rurouni Kenshin. If you are a girl, perhaps you would enjoy something like Chobits or Mars.

Just try it. Maybe you'll like it.

Try V for Vendetta, by allan Moore I think. It's way better than the movie.
