My german shepherd smiles (big goofy smiles) and I had a poodle once who would cry when she was scolded---big old alligator tears. My cockatiel laughs and sounds very much like me when he does.

Yes, yes, yes but they don't attach blame to the emotion I guess. God breathed the" same" breath of life in the animal and human but mankind has another trait, the ability to reason, that animals don't have. A fainting goat's muscles freeze for roughly 10 seconds When the goat is startled, though painless, this results in the animal collapsing on its side. It's caused by a hereditary genetic disorder called myotonia congenita. When startled, younger goats will stiffen and fall over. Older goats learn to spread their legs or lean against something when startled, and often they continue to run about in an awkward, stiff-legged shuffle.

I have seen my bulldog cry and actually heard him sob, when my husband went out and didn't take him along for the ride. I have also seen my Shih Tzu smile when I came home after being at work. Laugh I haven't ever heard them laugh but I suppose that they may do that also

Sure animals do, I'm an animal lover so even thinking this hurts to think about. But when a human hits an animal and it squeals, that is it crying out in pain.

We had a golden retriever named May who smiled alot. She'd squint her little brown eyes and grin like a monkey!
I don't know if dogs can cry, but they mourn. I have a 9 year old boxer and had a three year old who died suddenly. My nine year old mourned for a long time. Very sad for her and for us to watch.

My crazy Irish Setter used to show her teeth, like a smile, when I came home. She also wagged her tail. I'm sure that domesticated animals have emotions, but I doubt that they are capable of the human act of laughter.

I have always been told that the horse can technically cry, but I'm not sure that a horse cries because he is sad, like an human does.
