It is one of those things that many people say about banana peel but I have not see any experimental data by comparison. However, the banana peel’s potassium may feed the plant and helps it resist disease. It is not going to harm the plant but helps. The same is the case with using tea from used tea bags around the rose bush.

My mother used to always tell me this. I've never tried it but then again I don't have any roses. I've also heard about putting used tea bags on the dirl around a potted plant is supposed to help revitalize a plant.

My Gran swears banana skins around roses improves flowering, she say's it's to do with potasium. Perhaps she has not lost all her marbles like i secretly fear. Another one of her top tips, is pouring cold tea in the pots of plants losing their foilage, it does seem to revitalise the plant in a very short period of time.

It does, and so do tea leaves. The only thing is that you have to give the rose the occasional handful of lime, because both make the soil acidic in the long run, and roses like neutral to slightly alcaline soil.

I should think its very good for plants, my Mother used to put tea bags in the garden, but it looks a bit unsightly. I put them in my compost bin, makes great compost I think.
