volkswagon engines will outlast any toyota engine on the market today. VW cars are built differently because yes they are european, but think about this.. back in Germany, they have this road called the autobahn. German automakers build cars to be able to hand that long road, the VW is built for speed and agility. the ride, usually a bit tight. there's no toyota on the market (except for the Celica Supra, which isn't made anymore) that could handle the autobahn as well as any german made car. toyota cars are built for american roads and speed limits. toyota cars have parts readily available. VW cars are very durable, however as with a lot of european cars, they are prone to electrical bugs.

In reliablity, toyotas are better. But, the Vw golf GTI is just as reliable as a toyota. Toyotas are cheaper to buy and own. Vw's are better looking, faster, you get more than what you pay for, and they are fun to drive. Vw owns Audi, Lambo, Bently, Bugatti, Skoda, Seat, and is partners with Porsche. I would buy a Vw.

These days all Cars are pretty much the same when it comes to quality, reliability, fit and finish, etc. The days when one manufacturer's cars are "better" then another are pretty much over. Unfortunately a lot of people have been brainwashed to think only the Japs build good cars. Just not true.

It is becoming a fact that Toys are better than VW's as VW's are getting problematic. And Honda's are even better. Could be due to the automated factories. And I have only driven VW. Just like the seat comfort more and find Toy seats not comfortable.
