Hello, will be traveling to india a need a Poste Restante address, preferably in Kolkata , Ahmedabad, Jamnagar ...how is my mail supposed to be addressed?

Just have them addressed as
Your Name
C/o The Postmaster
GPO Name of City, State, Pincode.
Then when there, go to the post office along with a photo ID.

If it's the same as in other countries then posted to any post office and addressed to you and with the words "Poste Restaunte" clearly stated on the envelope.
It would look something like...
POSTE RESTANTE
Miss A Smith
The Post Office
1 High Street
Delhi
India

??? I never heard the term? Can't the people that run the service answer your questions. Maybe they have a web site.
