I'm a really good shooter, and I can handle the ball pretty well. The only problem is, in game situations I don't represent my skills as good as I should. I know I am waaay better than how I play in a real game. When I'm playing a pickup game with my friends, I'm a beast and I can do everything. But in organized games I sometimes shoot airballs, and I can't dribble as well as normal. I need help plz. Is it anciety or what? Please offer a solution.

The solution is simple, my friend. Play your game. I play leagues the same way I play pick up, and I played college ball the same way as well. A good coach will reign you in if you are doing too much, but they will let you play if you are playing well and playing hard, even if not exactly within the team framework. The way to prepare to make the switch is don't make any calls for about a month before your season, even if you are getting hacked! It replicates having refs, sometimes you get the whistle, sometimes you don't! You learn to play through everything. Makes you a better finisher as well.

I coach H.S. basketball and often have players with the same issue. Organized basketball and street ball are too different things alltogether. It sounds to me that you need to play more organized basketball. In the offseason, look to play in leagues that simulate real games. The more you play in actual games the more comfortable you will be. If you still have games to play this season, just try to play simple basketball. Play within the structure of what you coach wants. Don't feel pressure to "do something". Take what is presented to you in the game and always try to make your teamates better. Good Luck!!!

This is how I am. Whenever I played a few years ago, i sucked, and i was better than i was playing in a game. So what i did i just blocked everything out so i could just fosuc on the game. I kinda pretended that the other team were my friend i mean like when you said u play pickup games, just play like that.....like i said just block everything out and focus on the game, most important.

anxiety , you are worried about messing up. This is what separates players from the rest. You have to want to bring it and show up your opponent..feel the competition inside you instead of worrying what other people think of you
