I am on baby #2. My first is 6 years old. My friends are insisting on throwing a baby shower for me. I've always heard you only get a shower with your first. Is it inappropriate to throw a shower for #2?

If your kids are 6 yrs apart most would assume that you need all new stuff. I would not feel strange about letting someone give you a shower at all. This is in no way inappropriate and think of what a help it will be for you!

I am 32 weeks pregnant and I had a shower for my last pregnancy and it was about three years ago. My family did not give me a shower for her but my in-laws did and I had one at work. But right now I am not working and my mother is determined to gigive me a shower for this baby. This baby is a boy and I have all girl stuff so I don't feel bad about letting her. It is actually nice to know that people still care about you after you;ve had a child though. Go with it and enjoy the new stuff that you will receive and I personally don't think it would be wrong to have a shower for every child that you have. Each baby needs diapers and some new things. Good Luck!!

Typically, one shower is best. I think this reason is that first baby clothes, crib, etc. gets passed down to second baby. However, your first child is 6, so that is a bigger age gap.

I think it would be fine to have another shower. Especially if your friends are insisting on throwing it for you!

Congrats!

i had a second shower for my 3rd baby, but not for my second baby, but at the same time there is a 7 year time period between the 2nd and 3rd baby and they are different sexes.so yes it is OK to have a 2ND shower after so many years.look at it like this in some cases a baby shower is to help the parents to be out if they might need it.

Yes, the correct etiquette states that you only get a shower for your first child. However, since it's been 6 years since your first child, I think it is perfectly fine to have a second shower. Congratulations!

Generally if the children are close in age then no. A second shower would be bad form. If the children are spaced out the it is fine to have a second shower.

I did not have a second one because mine were only 14 months apart and I had everything I needed but my mom had a second one because my brother and I were 6 years apart so for your situation I would think another small one would be appropriate. My aunt also had two showers, her girls were 4 1/2 years apart.

A long time ago it was "etiquette" to only have one with your first child, but this day in age, most people get one with each child. I am pregnant with my 2nd child, my 1st will be 5 before this one is born, my friends are already gearing up to throw me one. Just go with it and enjoy all the wonderful gifts!! Congrats
