humans are strange creatures- not just because of war, but through everything. We spend billions of dollars and even more man hours just to see if we can get into space for no reason at all. We work till our hands bleed painting a massive piece of art, or swim to the bottom of the ocean to see a fish we've never seen and will never see agian. And we challenge ourselves to see if our will is stronger than your will- and to find who is the smartest and most powerful of all.... which is related to war, but also to many, many of our human indevors.

Wars are mostly fought to prevent evil people from dominating humanity. This was mostly a local phenomenon before World War II. Now, almost all wars are fought for this reason. The stakes are very high because, if the evil people win, they institute genocide. World War II brought this issue to world attention. Disturbingly, the world seems to have become jaded by this, as there have been many genocides since that war and most governments seem uninterested in stopping them. Large numbers of people side with the evil ones who do this. Even larger numbers advocate an end to war or at least treat war as an evil and unnecessary thing. This is not the first time such sentiments have been fostered by people in human history. However, every single society, without a single exception, that felt that was, was exterminated to the last man, woman and child. That is the price you pay for such idiocy.

Yes war is definitely a human need.
Animal do not have war, they have territory that they protect but that is as close to war they get.
Humans go into war for more often than not simple arguments, we are greedy by nature.
Those in power seek to use power.
And people are fascinated by war because that is what they grow up with.
And gradually each generation become more violent before the last.

War is not so much a need as much as it is a desire. And it is not just political governments and power figures that go to war, it is people every day, looking for that opportunity to climb to the top by lowering somebody else. Success is a human need (well, according to Maslow's Heirarchy of Needs), and war is just an outcome of one's success (or failure in America's case). War is fascinating because we don't see it. Odds are, you won't be part of a war unless you sign up for the army, or you're borne into a world of hate, like a third-world country or a hardcore ghetto. We turn our heads to war because human suffering is something that you don't want to be a part of, but you want to see. Why do we watch the show Cops? Because we are fascinated by the ignorance of lowlife scum. And that is why we are fascinated by war: lowlife scum versus technologically advanced scum. So like I said, it's not so much a need, but a desire.

What kills does not provide one's necessities. War is the product of the lack of it. It is only when humans have their needs when there will be no war.

No. War's something the government always decides on to further their own power and greed.

psychopathy is a condition governing the way of being and behaviors of a vast minority of the world's population. unfortunately, it facilitates in the "sufferer" a desire to control and dominate everyone and everything via any and all means necessary. thus, they often manage to "be in charge", especially in the more shallow and materialistic cultures. thereafter, murdering others for fun and profit is just entertainment and business. anyone you know come to mind? ;-)

War is a reaction to fear and greed. We attack because we are afraid we will be attacked. Or we attack because we want something that is not ours but theirs.
