I am looking to buy some remote lake front property. I am debating between a grain/pellet burning stove, or a submerged geothermal setup that feeds right into the lake. Any opinions either way are much appreciated.

I have a ground water Geo-thermal unit and I love it. I have had it for 12 years with no problems. The system you are talking about is a closed loop with the loop returning to your lake for heating or cooling. Do own the entire lake? If not do you own enough of it to run your loop? The system your looking at is expensive, If it is your year round home it could be worth it, if it is just a weekend home I would go with the stove.

Submerged geothermal setup that feeds INTO the lake? What the heck is that? Maybe you mean hydroelectric? I Say go for it if it will work.
