There's nothing wrong with having an accent you should be proud for your individuality and not let anything anyone says about it make you feel any different. You have equal rights to everyone else and should be respected just the same. I lived in the city until I was eleven and then moved out to the country and am in high school now. My city friends think it's funny that I live out in the country and make hick jokes about it but in reality it doesn't matter where you from or what accent you have, everyones equal. I have the same problem here in the country everyone likes to pick on me for my accent sounding like I'm from the city. It won't matter what you sound like, you can't please everyone. Just do what you think is right. If I were you I would keep your originality and hold your head high when you talk because not everyone shares the ability to accept who they are without changing some things. It's an insecurity within us so be strong and overcome it. Good luck.

People are just joking with you...there is no malicious intent to their words. And there is no need for classes because the longer you are around people the more you will talk like them so you accent will slowly go any on its own

Plus a little country accent from a girl is sexy

First of all, those people that make fun of your accent are idiots. Nobody is perfect, and having an accent is just like having blonde hair, or brunette hair, or whatever. It is apart of you! You shouldn't have to be ashamed with the way you look, talk, act, or feel. Chances are, other people have something that they don't like about themselves, and they make fun of other people's insecurities. DON'T LET IT GET TO YOU! There are many more important things you should be worrying about! You could go to lessons, but that would just be changing yourself because someone else says so. EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING THAT THEY DON'T LIKE ABOUT THEMSELVES! They may not show it, because they are afraid, but they do. Keep on with yourself!

A lot of people actually love the sound of a country accent and are either jealous or just are teasing you for no reason. Just because everyone doesn't have that particular accent doesn't mean they're better then you!

Just because you have an accent doesn't mean there is something wrong with you. Maybe it's not your accent they're teasing you about. Alot of poeple tease because they are jealous or insecure for one reason or another and they have to find something to pick on you about to make themeselves feel better. If your accent is all they have to tease you about then it's their issues within themselves and no you shouldn't take classes.

Ok i am straight up NYC born and raised and guess what i get people to mention the fact that i am from up north and that i have thick accent. And guess that i am proud of that. You should be proud of yours. You from the south!!! South is beautiful! Thats where it is at now. I guess you dont ever listen to a lot of crunck music or southern hip hop.....das the best now. Even people up north think that. Trust me there is nothing to be enbarrised about, there is nothing that needs to be fixed or changed about you. Beside me being from NYC i am also in military and we have nothing but southerners here and imagine how much shyt i get from them that i talk to fact or say coffee or car funny, or i consider saying it different, and daymn sure not funny. Trust me men find it sexi so guess what there are plenty of men that love themselves a country girl. Look at bejonce....str8 up from the south...Texas country girl!! And she is doing her thing!! Be proud of what you are....

You don't have to take classes because of your accent. That's just the way you speak. But as time goes on, your accent might change based on who you hang out with. But I can tell you this, you don't have to change your-self because of what other people say, that's just you.

Sha-boo!

Being different in any way will bring on attention, wanted or not. I used to get teased too, but I like the way I talk, so I took it in stride & let people know I was proud of being from the 'country.' It is up to them to accept you, not up to you to worry about changing.. Be blessed.

What's so wrong about an accent? I think they make people unique, and what's wrong about that either?

Ignore those that tease. I have an accent and I am proud of it.
