Our 7 week old oohs and aahs and smiles when his father talks to him but just stares at me & his father seems to be able to comfort him better. Is it possible that he already prefers his dad??

Babies change all the time. My 3mth old started to get sticky to me when he was only 6wks old. Till now, he will only let his father carry him when he's in good mood. Yes, he seems to response more when his father plays with him. You can talk to him and play with him more often and he'll response to you in other way. As for my case, he responses to his father by laughing and getting all excited. As for me, he tends to be milder by 'cooing' more (as if he's really chatting with me!) and smile more often.

Our son is almost 9 months old, but for a long time already has preferred one of us over the other for differetn things. Mommy is for feeding and cuddling or when not feeling well. Daddy is for playing. Big sister even(shes 12 years) is for rough housing and acting liek idiots all over teh house lol

It kind of depends, I'm not throwing any assumptions into here but it seems like there is something about his father that he likes a lot. Senses something different there that he likes a lot. Just hold your newborn a lot and talk comfortingly all the time and just generally be there for him, he still loves you, just currently enjoys his father. Depends on the situation too, and you don't give us much info :)

Make the most of it, the baby will be back cooooing at you before you know it.
Don't worry, and don't feel deflated.
My 2nd baby did the same, think he was sick of the sight of me, but at the moment he won't let me walk out of a room without him !!

kids change their minds on who is the fave. alllllll the time. heck for weeks with my daughter its all about daddy... and then others its me (mommy).... but you know i read somewhere that sometimes the reason why kids like their dads more is because they see them less then mommy... so when they do get to see daddy he is like the best thing on earth! lol.
but at your little ones age.. i am sure its just a phaze. you'll see soon you'll be the hip one :)

i have two half sisters and one likes her dad (my step-dad) and the other likes mom
my real sister likes mom more
i am stuck in the middle. all girls and different favorites
