What Cell Phone Service Should I Get? Verizon or Sprint?

I am asking for some help on a decision. I‘ll be getting some new cell phone service pretty soon, and I want to know which one I should get. First of all, let me tell you why I am in this dilemma. Many people in the town that I live in are on Verizon Wireless. This is fine, but some are also on different carriers.

You may know this already, but Verizon offers a text messaging plan that will provide unlimited messaging to Verizon costumers, but only 500 messages to other carriers. Sprint offers unlimited messages to anybody. The problem is, if I get Verizon, I won’t be able to send or receive very many messages from people with sprint, cingular, t-mobile, etc. However, I’ll be able to exchange unlimited messages with other Verizon costumers. IF I get Sprint, I get unlimited messages to anybody. The only problem with this is that Verizon costumers won’t be able to send me very many messages due to their 500 out-of-carrier limit.

Which should I get? Verizon or Sprint?

By the way, both services have equal coverage in my area, and they both have the phone that I want. I am happy with voice plans offered by each company. The only reason that I am asking this is because of text messaging, so please do not include any suggestions such as “Verizon has better ________”.

There are several different text messaging plans offered by verizon, all with unlimited to "IN" and 500 $5, 1000 $10, and 2500 $20. No one on verizon is stuck to 500 out-of-carrier because of the different plans and they can pay 10 cents a message if they go over their limit. They also offer an Unlimited during certain times of the year (just like T-mobile). I personally would choose Verizon over sprint. i have had both (currently have Verizon) but Sprint has always had lousy customer service and always kept over charging me and charging me for things I had never even heard of or had! I had to have them for two years so I didnt have to pay over 200 to get out of my contract and I can tell you it was the worst two years of my life with a cellphone provider. And in my personal opinion, Verizon has better quality of phones.

Ive had Verizon for years and with now problems,after 2 years i am the month to month plan now and can opt out at anytime without recourse,also Verizon has a better selection of phones and a better coverage area than Sprint. My friend sighned up for Verizon and upgrades to a WAYYYYY better phone that was offered for next to nothing, also you can bundle Verizons services as well. Good Luck.

Sprint is your BEST option!

First off, you can't worry about if folks can Text YOU or what THEY will pay!

You should focus on who YOU can text (you write about Texting so it must be a central thing for you!) and how much that will cost. Let others look out for themselves, do what makes the most economic sense FOR yourself. If more folks did that, Verizon would be broke..they are NOT a cost effective option.

And Sprint makes much more sense for YOU (and anyone) getting phone service.

Why? Well, Sprint is cheaper for the same level of service.. AND if you go over, you don't pay 40 or 45 Cents or more per minute like with Verizon! Verizon is quite the rip off if you exceed your minute allotment.. While Sprint charges 15 cents a minute (last I checked) if you go over! If you go over one time, due to emergency or whatever, you will pay so so much more in that single month with Verizon that it will eclipse any other dollar amount! So, if you go over 200 minutes because Uncle Elmer had his toe run over, that would cost you $90 with Verizon, and only $30 with Sprint! So, forget texting (which is cheaper with Sprint), or regular phone service (again cheaper with Sprint), but the overage (HUGELY less with Sprint) costs.

Now, when you DO get a phone, BOTH Verizon AND sprint have Tri Mode phones! Get one! There are 2 frequencies, and two modes.. one is digital, and one is analog. In some boonie areas, the ONLY service is Analog! And if your car breaks down, you will WANT analog ability! Now, Verizon is DUMPING their tri mode stuff, only has a few phones left, but Sprint is doing well AND has upgraded their Analog performance..

Analog is like 4x4 on a car.. most days, weather is fine, who cares.. but when the **** hits the fan, and you ARE in the boonies with a prob.. you want 4x4 AND you want Analog roaming!

Tmobile Cingular etc. are single frequ, single mode, and if you are inthe boonies you are hosed!

im gonna say verizon.. verizon wireless has really cool phones and they are coming out with more phones.. and sprint really dont have nice phones.. and last i knew there network couldnt really support it.. were verizon there have coverage nation wide.. so if u travel you are covered.. and they have a much more reliable network..

Verizon! Sprint you dont get service anywhere.

(But still think Cingular is much much better!)

sprint because there service is free after 7:00 clock pm and if you call someone who is with sprint it will be free of charge!
and sprint does have text messaging
