My worst day ever didn't start out as such. It was in 1985 August the 10th. It was a Sunday at 9:15 in the morning and I was in Burma (now Myanmar) on my honeymoon with my first wife. We had been married for 6 weeks. There was an archeological dig going on just outsid the capitol sity of Rangoon and a portion of it was open to public viewing as it had already been investigated. We decided to go out and take the tour as we both had an interest in the subject. It had rained a couple of days before and the roads were sill slick with mud. We topped a hill and the car lost traction. Neither the foot break nor the emergency break were of any use whatsoever. At the bottom of the hill was a curve, too sharp to navigate wihtout tractin. I tried to maneuver it but the car flipped, spun and slid about 30 feet into a revine. I was thrown out. I made my way back to the car and the passenger side had beeb crushed in on the top. The car was on fire and I pulled her out and got us behind a tree before it blew up. I sat back against the tree, cradling her head in my lap and trying to staunch the flow of blood from the gash in her temple. she maned, opened her eyes and tried to smile at me. "What happened?" She caughed when she spoke and the pain was obvious when she did.

"Breaks went out, we crashed." I wrapped a piece of my shirtr around her head in an atempt fo stop the bleeding and felt something odd in the wound, someting sharp was sticking out. Shw winced in pain as I touched it and I realized that a piece fo galss had dodged itself in her head. "Easy love, You'll be okay, just lie still."

"chest hurts, can't breathe..." I opened her shirt and saw a huge bruise froming onve her ribs. I knew that not only did she have several broken robs, but also that one of them had punctured her right lung. I couldn't hide my tears and when she saw me crying she knew that she was oing to die as well as I did. "I love you" she said, "I laways ahve and I always will, not even death can change that. I"m sorry I won't get to see your school, I'l sure you'll be a great teacher. I can't feel my legs, and everyhitng is so dark and i'm so cold. Kiss me one last time; let me breathe my last breath into you."

"Goocbye my love. I will never stop loving you." Was all I could manage to choke out then I kissed her long, not wanting to let go. I held on until she went limp in my arms, then I laid her down, sood up and screamed, the tears flowing from my eyes and the sound scaring every animal within earshot. I picked her up and carried her the mile back to the city, my every movement betraying the pain which was consuming my soul.

September 11th, 2001. Fear. Fear like I have never felt in my life. I was travelling out of the country, and wondered if I would be able to get home to my family. Spent days waiting for "the next shoe to drop." That day was a smack of reality across the face; a major wake-up call.

The day they called me to the hospital and my father died while holding my hand. My mother had already passed away, and the realization that I had no parents anymore was the most incredible h*ll on top of everything else.

The day my husband was arrested and sent to prison for 20 years. There were many many other factors that made that day miserable, but that's all I wish to share.
