Slick is right, and if your going with other boarders its even easier because they can tell you how to do things based on experience.

It's much easier but still require some physical preparation.
I do both now because I'm little bit bore with skiing so I started snowboarding and and the second day I was going down the green tail - so it' very easy!
But as somebody mentioned if it's your first time except nothing but falling and hearting the butt and knees and just a little bit of riding. Even taking the instructor might not help but... no pain no gain.
And of course don't go on blue/black trails first time!
Good luck!

I have not been skiing but been told by skier turned snowboarders, that skiing is easier. BUT snowboarding is very fun and really cool!
Don't get frustrated in your first few days of learning, it could get painful and might pick up few bruises, but boy, is it worth it!? :D If you can find some impact shorts, that will definitely help. Also, wrist guards is a MUST! Dakine do a good one, available from major sports store such as Snow and Rock.

well, not really. it is recommended that you get a lesson. after you get turns down and if you're not afraid of speed, then it REALLY gets easy and fun. ENJOY!

WARNING: DO NOT fall and try to catch yourself with your hand. Avoid this instict. I have been snowboarding for 5 years and I still didn't learn my lesson. I jammed my wrist 3 days ago and next time I go I'm gonna train myself not to fall on my hand.

In my opinion snowboarding is more difficult to pick up in the beginning than skiing, but it takes much less time to master than skiing.

Since this is your first time be prepared to spend a lot of time on your butt.

You will probably spend more time on your butt than board the first day, but the second day will be much easier... and by the third, you will likely feel pretty comfortable. I skiied before boarding, and found boarding easier to learn.... but harder to master... if that makes sense? Its worth trying.

yes it is easy after a while doing it but the first couple of trips to the slopes will be rough so be prepared to fall
