My son was elbowed in the face by another boy on the school bus, because he turned around to talk to his brother and this other boy told him to mind his own business and turrn around. So of cause my son told this other boy to make him and this boy elbowed my son in the face.

The school suspended both boys off the bus, does this make any sense to you?

the same crap happened to me, a guy started fighting with me, and I had to fight back in self defense. We both got in school suspension. What was I supposed to do just take it? I can imagine even if I did, I would have still gotten in trouble. Stupid School.

It does make sense to me. I think that the kid that elbowed your son in the face was absolutely wrong, and apparently has an anger problem, or some other problem, but I also think that your son was instigating. In a case of school versus kid, the parents always want to take up for the child, but the fact of the matter is, children lie. You weren't there, the teachers weren't there, all they know is what the children said. Kids lie all the time to twist parents and teachers into getting what they want. There is probably more to the story than the two boys are telling. So, yeah, I think it's fair that both kids got suspended. It will make child A less likely to hit a kid in the future, and it will make child B less likely to instigate.

I say no. Your son wanted to talk to his brother, right? (at least that is what I am getting out of the question) He has a right to! That boy should have just allowed him to talk. Besides- he should mind HIS own business and not worry about his friend. I would discuss this issue with the Principal, because your son should not have been suspended for another kid's wrong-doing.

There's only one good thing about public schools: it's like free daycare.

My Two Brothers Got In Trouble For Things They Didn't Do Almost Every Week At The Joshua, Texas Public School.

Sure, their friends were on drugs and owned brass knuckles, but my brothers did not! The trailer trash kids my bro's went to school with ruined my bro's reputations before they even had a chance to prove themselves as good kids.
Screw You Tarrant County! (Thanks, I feel better now)

Peace out ~L~

I would definitely fight it. But before you do make sure that's really all your son did. There's always 2 sides to every story, and he could be fabricating his side to avoid getting into trouble with you. But if his story checks out, make an appointment with the principle. Your son could of hit him back, but didn't. That shows great self control, and he should not be punished for that.
Tell your son your proud of him for not retaliating. Not allot of kids would be as mature about the situation.
Good job, it shows your teaching good moral and values!

I never understood that. Schools suspend kids for trying to defend themselves.. What are they supposed to do........LET THE OTHER KID POUND THE CRAP OUT OF THEM???

If I were you, I would file a complaint with the school board, that is just pretty crappy. NOW if your son hit the kid first which according to what was said, he didn't lay a finger on him, he just said "make me" then yeah, it would be right. In this case, it is the stupidest thing.

I went through a similar thing with my son, we just took it to the school board he was let off of suspension after they found out he really was telling the truth

If there were witnesses, make sure you get their names, that helps a lot. Good luck.

In the words of my two kids. That is just SO RETARDED!!!

Yes, that is what they do now. It's the zero tolerance policy. They don't care who started it, they suspend everyone involved.

Sometimes the Zero Tolerance thing goes too far, and they need to take into account the background of the problem. Otherwise, it can be unforced VERY unfairly!
