This is an Awsom question! Most 90% of all carseats are installed WRONG! In fact I was the mother of 2 children a 10 and 8 year old and I had my new infant car seat installed inncorrectly! Call your local community center or police department. Ask them for Car seat installation information. They will have a speacialist in your area. Usually the programs are ran out of a government office like the office where WIC and or Community assistance programs are ran. Also You can obtain a Free carseat from these programs . If you already have one Great but, If you have another car you can get a second one and they will install them both for you. I did this with my last child and they were very helpful, I also found out that my 5 year old son was still too short to be in the seatbelt alone, Children must be 4' 7" tall before they are out of a booster! also you can visit the Carseat Safety Alliance for info in your area!

Generally the police or fire department depending on where you live.
And you generally have to make an appointment as they only have a few trained people. However when I had it done it was free and so was the extra seatbelt clip and pool noodles.
Good for you for doing the right thing and getting someone to show you how to install it. However it is very important that you ask questions and get them to show you, not just do it. Because mine has a tendancy to slip out over time because the shoulder belt applies more pressure to one side.
Take care.

Quite honestly, you should learn yourself. Most hospitals include this in the parenting training that they offer. You will most likely need to install more than just one carseat and will probably need to remove it for some reason.
Another place to try is your local W.I.C. office. Most of them give out free carseats as well as show you how to install them.
I do suggest, for first time parents, getting a double check to make sure that you are doing it right.

Most fire and police stations have someone on staff who is certified in car seat safety. I recommend calling and making an appointment b/c sometimes there is only one person who does this. I'm not sure if there is a charge...I've just installed mine myself (although there are times that I think that I should at least get mine checked out...make sure I did it correctly!).

Many police and fire departments have trained car seat technicians, but many don't. You can call your local depts to ask, but be sure to ask if they have "car seat technicians" whom are certified. Sometimes you'll get somebody who will put it in and they are not trained which is not safe for them or you. Kudos for checking on this, most parents do it wrong, probably including all the ones whom have replied to you to tell you to do it yourself because they did.
I have checked and installed hundreds of car seats and the only people who have ever done it right are those who read both their vehicle owners manual and the car seat manual, if you don't you are guranteed to make a mistake. Please have your car seat checked even if you choose to install it first yourself. You can also log on to www.seatcheck.org to find a tech near you.

Call your local cop shop. If they don't do it, they might give you someone who does. I got my sons professionally installed, and it was free. Then you get a paper saying it was professionally installed incase you ever get pulled over and they ask about it.

I would suggest learning how to do it yourself. The directions are usually very thorough.
One thing to note - I've heard parents say that they took their car seats to a local police, fire, etc. station to have them checked for safety, and the officers didn't install them correctly either! Pretty scary.

You can go to any Highway Patrol Station (police station). It is probably a good idea to call in advance.
