What role they are playing on whether your relationship, engagement, marriage will last?

They don't have to play a major role in your life, but it would be good to get along with them. Imagine how awkward it would be to hang out at family parties, holiday get togethers, vacations... etc. if you don't get along with his family. When you go to his house/her house in the future it's not always going to be you and him or you and her at eachothers sides, there will be times where you are left in a room with parents and have to communicate. You should be on a personal level with your lovers parents/family. It will make everything better and run smoother.

No I dont think it is important. My boyfriends whole family hates me. They also love his ex-wife which he left for another woman way before I came into the picture. Even when he and I moved in together, his mom would do favors for his ex-wife and basically not have anything to do with us. People are going to either like you or not, no matter what. Don't worry about it. If you all get married, when the holidays come around you dont have to go with him when he visits. Have your own holoiday traditions just with eachother and include those that both of you get a long with.

Yeah because if you don't get along with them usually the relationship ends, family is more important than gf/bf

Yes i do feel this is kinda important... It kind sets the presidence for what the marriage and relationship will be down the road.

No, it doesn't matter. It would be nice but if it doesn't happen, it's not that big a deal. Your life together is about the two of you, not extended family. At least once marriage enters the picture.

Yes, it's a big deal especially if you live in the same town and you'll be spending the holidays together.

I don't think it's real important...Your not dating your bf/gf parents...So what you think of them or they think of you...Who cares as long as you love the person your with!!
