It is an average. Some get married in their early twenties, some in their late twenties. Many people are ready for a committed relationship towards the end of college or shortly thereafter. In addition, this is just part of the culture - to meet someone when you are young, fall in love and get marrried. Also, many people I know meet in graduate school and get married to someone from there. Women have to consider their biological clock. For some women 35 is too late. I got married when I was 25, but we didn't want to start a family until I was 30, but it turns out that may have been a mistake with respect to fertility.

Because they are usually finished with college by then, done with the party scene and ready to settle down and get a family started, most women want to start having kids before 30.

for me it was security and sick of getting treated like I only had one peice of me worthwhile, if u know what I mean. The other reason was I wanted a family of my own-I'm still married to the same guy.
