Simple. The movie industry targets young males 18-24. Making a remake is cheap(for them). The story for one thing often changes....That's very upsetting if your a fan of the original. Plus it's all about special effects now, plus getting a good looking woman half naked. But the real reason deep down is that in the originals you had great actors. Today, it's all about your looks. Great acting is optinal.

Because the quality of everyone involved in the remake is poor. Nowaday movies are made primarily for money, back then people took pride in every they did,the plot,the directing,the acting,editing etc. and it reflects in the final product.
