I just bought an old Honda CRX to sport around in. The only problem is that it is covered in obscene bumber stickers. What is the easiest way to get them off without destroying the paint job?

Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a heat gun, normally about $35. Put the heat gun on low setting and keep it about 8" away from the paint and finish. Act like its a hair dryer and blow over 1 sticker at a time moving somewhat slowly over it but not so slow that you see bubbles, speed up if you see any. After a minute or so of waving over the sticker....start to pick at a corner and slowly peal off. Do not use razor blades or tools as this will gouge, scratch the paint and finish.

Another method is to hit up a auto body paint and supply store and buy what they call a "rubber eraser wheel". They use this to remove stickers and pin stripping from cars. It is like a big eraser you have from school but is a disc and attaches to a cordless drill or small air drill. You then actually rub/erase the stickers off the car. Since no heat is involved nor chemicals it is safe for the finish. Just a coat of wax is needed after wards.

Don't be shocked to find the paint 2 toned where the stickers were. If this is all above you, you can have any detail shop do this service for you and then they can compound buff the area to help with the 2 tone effect.

Glad to see someone bringing back a CRX....use to own a 85' DX model and still to this day it was my most enjoyable car.

Spray the decal with a lubricant like WD40 and attempt to peel it off. If this does not artwork....... soften the adhesive with warmth from a blow dryer. start to peel off a corner of the decal mutually as persevering with to coach warmth, or gently scrape off the decal with a rubber spatula or a putty knife with its steel blade wrapped in duct tape. do no longer use a razor blade; it may scratch paint and bumpers. Wipe the continues to be of the decal away with a comfortable, lint-loose rag dampened with rubbing alcohol. Buff the bumper or panel with a sharpening compound and a sparkling coat of wax to end the job.

Try a hair dryer or a low temp heat gun. Just warm the sticker up a little bit and it should melt the glue and let you just pull the sticker off. You can then buy some turtle wax rubbing/cleaning compound and a clay bar at an auto parts store and use that to clean off any of the residue left over.

Remove as much off as you can then spray WD 40 on whats left. Give it a couple of minutes to work then scrap off what you can with your fingernail then give it another shot and repeat till gone. Gentle is the trick cause you really can mess up the paint. Good Luck

Heat it up with a blow dryer and clean the sticky off with Rubbing Alchohol.

And Trevor? LOL! Don't take up auto body painting because anybody who truly knows anything knows you cannot use acetone on any kind of painted surface except to remove the paint!

And Pamela? Seeing as this person bought an old car like this, I'm pretty sure this person is looking for the cheapest way too. A heat gun? Use what you have on hand, don't you agree?

With a hair dryer. Works like a charm and if there is any glue left over, use Goop off or better without the harsh smell, lighter fluid. Just make sure to becareful and read all precautions on the bottle and follow the directed use and instructions.

Peel them off as best you can. Then for the gummy stuff underneath the sticker, try spraying some very hot soapy water. That should melt the glue and help it to come off a bit easier. If that doesn't work, try some oil soap (Murphy's Oil soap). Hope that helps!

A plasma cutter works wonders...but it might be easier to take it to a paint shop, sand it down, and repaint the whole thing. This way the paint matches all the way around and you won't have any faded spots.

Get a waterbottle, and fill it with 1/4 cup of fabric softener, and the rest of the way with ater then spray the mixture on the stickers and let it soak then they should come off very easily without damaging your car :)

Actually, oil is going to be your best bet here. First try a little cooking oil or baby oil....dab it on and let it soak in a little bit then try scaping with your fingernail. If it still seems really hard to get off, try WD 40 (and if I were doing this, myself, I'd start with the WD 40, but not everybody has that in their garage). Neither of these things should harm the paint, but just to be safe, use them on the least visible part, before anywhere else.
