EXACTLY!
We deserve a government of the people, by the people and for the people.
We haven't seen that in 20 years.

Yes, but Bush is a pretty polarizing figure. He really doesn't reach out to the Democrats at all. And there is the dispute about how he took power in 2000. As far as the anger and hatred goes, it's not different from sports. People who don't know each other from different cities might act the same way just because of a bunch of football players that none of them know. It has no basis, and really serves no purpose, but it adds to the fun (go figure).

You would think so, but I went back to look at the Politics & Government page, and THIS is the only question on page 1 which does not insult either the sitting President, or those who are vying for the position in 2008.
I'm beginning to fear for the future of this country's political system. There is so much hate (from BOTH sides) out there right now.

Ah, I see it's spread and the punches are now being thrown in this question, too.

This is indeed a disturbing trend. Used to be that politicians could have violent disagreements about policy on the floor of the Senate or House and then go grab a beer together at the local pub. Somehow, now it has become personal. They don't hate Democratic or Republican policy, they hate individual Democratic or Republican politicians. Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it, so I would advise today's politicians to read up on the fall of the Roman Empire, perhaps it would wake some of them up.

You are 100% right. The past 7 years have devasted our country. It is now time to demand that our goverment work together to make this country great once more. We need to demand that they bring our Men and Women in the armed forces home & we need to find a way to be energy independent.

I think we should fight it out 1860 style. Of course it would be a short War because Dems don't believe in the right to own guns or War, so it looks like we win said fictional war!
