I love basketball and i sound kind of dumb asking but could somebody explain this to me

When Payton and Malone suffered injuries they became strickly jump shooters, not as much driving to the basket and getting hit in traffic.

All it means is that it will take a very big injury for Wade and James to become average players like Payton and Malone became after their big injuries.
Meaning: they're still da shi...

It means they would become more reliant on their skills than the athleticism that currently drives their games now.
Walton was a great player, but can be tough to take on TV.
