They really should open it up to all ages..older people can make them money too..maybe they feel some of them can't keep up on tours.

I would never try out and risk humiliation. I would not want to be the prawn in the vehicle of idol gaining more money and ratings through eiter my talent or my lack of it or appearance etc. I do not value these people producing the show whose only goal in life is making money.

I do not do that well with authority figures -- sucking up to them and doing whatever they say. I would be overemotional (highly sensitive by nature, would take years getting over their comments and let anger and sadness and injustice overwhelm me, be very hard pressed to not say anything back and remain thankful though harsh criticism, and would be devastated with the cruel and mean things said about all finalists on the message board.

I would not like to lose my anonymity...that would be difficult. If made Hollywood and got cut, it would be difficult..

The only plus side would be learning about the business, lots of money, making friends, and performing in public if that was my dream and I made it to the top.

I don't think I would. I enjoy singing, but I know there are alot more people better than me and I don't want to be and "idol" anyway. I also think those people doing it as a joke or are not serious should just let it go and stop it. It gets annoying after you see the 25th stupid act after stupid act. Go ahead if you are serious and you want to be a celeb and you HAVE the talent. But if you are just joking around or only half in it or in it for tv, then you are a fake poser and stop kidding yourself.

Why do those poor, dysfunctional people go on there and disgrace themselves? Imagine, thinking in your own head that you are really good enough. You have friends and family (also, obviously dysfunctional) there to root for you and they are encouraging you all the way...obviously.

They are also looking for a certain 'look'; a stage prescence, if you will. Many of these people just don't have it. Do you really think you are 'going to Hollywood' if you are Lyle Lovett ****? (Sorry, Lyle). Get a grip. It is embarassing to me to watch some of these people embarass themselves to such a degree.

I wouldn't, mainly because I only sound good at singing if I'm quiet. If I try and sing louder or at a normal frequency, it sounds terrible.
