Do you think its in bad taste to make a T.V. series into a movie, or a movie into a T.V. series ?

Only a few shows to movie have done well and the rest should have been left alone. Whoever write scripts for the shows and casts them have horrible taste and talent. But that is what the major studios have been putting out in recent years is a lot of garbage.

They're both about the same, there have been some really good shows that started as movies, like MASH. There have also been TV shows that translated well to movies, like Star Trek

It's all a matter of whether or not there is enough source material, and if they get a good team of writers. Also, it seems that sci-fi/fantasy adaptations tend to do the best, because they often have very loyal fans and get spread by word-of-mouth.

Of course, children's material kinda ruins this. Mediocre cartoons make awful movies and tend to be nothing more than a tie-in to new toys or games.

sometimes, look at mash, they made a movie called M.A.S.H. and then they did at tv show which ran from 1972-1983. the last show is still the highest rated program of all time

Yes...if movie writers can't come up with anything new and are resorting to recycling an idea they obviously shouldn't be in the business.
