My son is in a drama at our church, and he is going to represent Russia. He looks the part being tall and blonde. However we have no idea what to have him wear. Ideas?

I agree wiht teh psot before me. Not all Russians are blonde. Actually, very few are. I myself and russian and i have naturally dark, brown hair and dark brown eyes. Also, not alot of russina epople are tall either. My parents are russina and they are shorter, btuatht also depends on the time period in which they grew up wiht nutrition and such. Also, most of the russian people taht i know are dark-haired and i only know a few blonde russians. Some of them dye their hair blonde. As to Russian clothing, russians wear what typical Americans and Europeans wear. A lot of business people wear hats and a coat which is normally a mix of a trench coat and a suit jacket. They will will ear some nice pants to match the jacket and shirt. If you are lookign for clothing to represent the past, i am not exactly sure what they wore.

'He looks the part being tall and blonde'

You are thinking of Germans - Russians are mostly dark haired and have somewhat darker complexions. Of course it varies from place to place - since some have more slavic blood, and some have mixed more with the blond haired swedes and germans.

I guess it depends on what era he's supposed to be representing - modern day russian boys mostly try to emulate westerners - wearing jeans and t-shirts, however if you want to have him look like the stereotypical russian - then make or get one of those big fuzzy hats, a red jacket with lots of gold detail work and some black pants - preferably put on a long fake beard too - and then have him fold his arms and practice kicking his feet out in front of him while crouching down in a sitting position.

Today, of course, they are striving to dress and look just like all others in Europe and America! (Unfortunate.)

As to what he can wear, it would probably depend on what time period he wants to depict, to try and look typically Russian. You might try a site like this:

with links to Russian costumes. Or this, with images:

Good luck!
