Going interrailing in the next few months to Zone C (Denmark, Germany, Switzerland and Austria), can anyone suggest a good (rough) itinerary? We want to go to the obvious big three cities, Copenhagen, Berlin and Vienna, but also some places off the beaten track too. Last time I went (Zone E, France and Benelux) there was no real plan as such, which was good, but I think we missed out a bit on the smaller places because we wouldn't really of known where to go and we were pushed for time.

My idea so far is to start by getting the ferry from Harwich to Esjberg, and working our way down to Geneva and getting the train back home from there (or opposite route). Don't want to fly.

So the question is.... where should we stop at on our way from Esjberg to Geneva?!

ok,

For Switzerland, you absolutely MUST vist Interluken - it's a beautiful town in the mountains with fantastic walks, brilliant scenery...

For Austria, I'd suggest a trip to Salzburg, where Mozart was born, and the Sound of Music was filmed.

For Germany, make sure you visit Dresden for a day opr two on your trip to Berlin

Hope this helps

Philip

Stop in Ribe southern bit of Jutland, Denmark. There a beautiful cathedral there and its just a really pretty town at night time. I don't know why more foreigners don't go there as it's really nice.
