i just don't think people that bad would really try out.

I think they are real. They know that they are different and weird, but they think that will get them on the show. One girl even said she knew she was different and that was what AI was looking for. I guess they go on the basis of "you never know" and "it could happen", but of course it doesn't.

They're both. Out of all the bad people that show up at any given time, the producers purposefully go around looking for the wierdest ones. It's sort of like a night at the roman forum. Let's throw these Christians to the lions.
It's a real freak show.

some are real but I think some are staged. some people really think they are going to win. Out of thousands there will always be some real freako's

They have really high self esteem that is why they try out even though they are bad at singing.

they are real -- sad but true -- 2 of them on the Minneapolis show had connections to the area where I live (one made it through to the next level -- one didn't) their stories were carried in the local paper..

I think they are real and it is funny.It is the best part of the show.Can not believe that these people really think that they are good.
