It's not the team with the better record. It alternates every year between the AFC and the NFC. Last year the Steelers were the home team, they chose to wear their away uniforms since they came so far playing every playoff game on the road. So this year the NFC will be considered the home team, so it's the Bears. Basically they get to choose which uniform they want to wear, and the Colts will choose the side of the coin during the toss.

There will be no "home team" in the superbowl, because it will be played at Dolphin Stadium in Florida. The teams going are the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts.

Per an NFL rule, NFC in odd numbers, AFC in even numbers, therefore the Bears are the home team.

it wouldnt matter. In playoffs the homefield advantage is everything. Look at the Indy game. But since bot teams are so far away from Miami it wont matter. But i think it is Indy due to their scedule.
