Dallas, Cowboys
------------------------
Tex also introduced computers into our organization in 1962. When he was part of the CBS team that covered the Winter Olympics from Squaw Valley, they had some kind of IBM chip that enabled skiers to be timed, and that's how they got this digital time on the screen. Tex was so enamored by that, he went to IBM to find out if there was a way we could computerize our scouting system, game planning, even tickets. We went to a satellite company of IBM's and wound up hiring Salam Quershi, a man who knew nothing about football but was a programming genius. By 1962, we had the first version of our scouting system, which involved game scouting, opponents, and the like. I guarantee you that the internet would be one of Tex's greatest projects -- he'd find more ways to use the internet to help the Cowboys and the NFL than anyone else out there.
