i think communtiy is good, but were just doing it with the wrong people, like China, for instance: they hate our guts, but were bending over backwards to sell them stuff

we need to do deals with people that are close to us and actually like us, like S. America, latin america, and africa. those are the people we need to be friends with, christian and friendly democratic nations. forget the Commies!!!!

*GET THE U.S. OUT OF THE U.N. AND THE U.N. OUT OF THE U.S.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Follow facts and logic, do the right thing, try to get people to agree with us but if they don't, they don't.

If Hitler had stopped with the Sudetenland and not invaded Poland, France or Russia, the world community would not have gone to war with him. The end of the holocaust was a mere by-product of the war that really began when Hitler invaded Poland. In other words, if Hitler had stopped, at least paused, the world community would have let the holocaust happen - arguably it did just that. The world community allowed and advanced the Spanish Inquisition, colonialism, slavery, all manner of evil.

Just because most people agree with something doesn't make it right. Right is right and wrong is wrong and who agrees with something is just who agrees with it.

Given the havoc the US has caused across the world in the last few years due to its foreign policy, I think American isolationism would be the safest course for the rest of the world.

Isolationism would have saved many lives, had we been isolationist oriented we would never be the target for terror. We have so many problems here , and lets face it Iraq did not attack us on 911, and our leaders allowed those who did to go unpunished, so lets kill bin ladden and shut our doors

I'd say Isolate, but mainly as a corrective to an *excess* of wrong-headed participation.

We *do* need to protect ourselves from the excesses of Geo-Political Religious Zealots, both at home and abroad. Of all faiths, both Evangelical (and Dominionist) "Christian" and Wahabbi "Muslim" as well.

We *do* need to get our back-stabbing CEO Class back under control, and stop the Rich Men from plundering Western Civilization. We need, among other things, to keep your Wal-Marts from destroying local downtowns entirely, and to keep Big Oil from furthering Big Terror courtesy of our addiction to cheap petroleum.

And....we need to correct for 20-plus years of "voodoo economics", get both government and trade deficits back under control....and then go *back* to something resembling Keynesian economics wherein people actually *invest* money in ordinary, law-abiding citizens (as human capital and infrastructure) again. We've just let our public schools and our legal system and our environmental protections and yes, our labor rights *rot* for decades now, and they need to be corrected to maintain order and civilization.

Once we fix these things, we can *stop* being the shame of the world here in these United States and *be* a worthwhile member of the community again...

Because the best way for us to lead is to lead by our own Good Example. If we want to save the world, then we need to fix ourselves first.

I hope this helps and thanks again for your time! :)

You'll have to provide a more detail description of "participate in the world community" for a response.

America's thinking has been to participate in the world community but it has to be their way!

It's funny, but when our founding fathers founded this country, they believed in neutrality and only believed in "temporary alliances" at best. Today, I think we can see the wisdom in their thought.
