Reason I am asking is because I just bough my phone from this one guy and I think it might have water damage. What color should the rounded water strip on the battery compartment be? It is white right now with no striped or dashed pattern on top and I am curious if thats how it should be.

if it has red or has stripes or is pink then it has water damage.. if it is white.. then you are all set..

There should be a WHITE paper dot right under the battery of your phone. If it's pink or red or any other color than WHITE, that means your phone has water or liquid damage. If the dot is WHITE, then your phone should NOT have water damage. However, some people are tricky, and may change the dot. If your phone is acting up strange, then the guy apparently screwed you over.

It should just be white. If it gets wet it turns red a solid red. My husband had purchased a Razr from Sam's Club and teh dot was red. We didn't know it wasn't supposed to be and it ended up costing us $100 to replace it.
