The eye exams are slightly different but they take about the same amount of time (1 hour, give or take) unless it is your first appointment with that Dr. Good luck!
BTW, one crappy thing about contacts is that in general the prescription only lasts for a year. You can get around that if you order another year supply before your prescription expires.

Exams for contact lenses take longer, because corneal measurment have to be real precise, because contacts are worn on the eyes, whereas glasses are offset from the face by at least 1/4". It take on the average about 1-1 1/2 hrs.

Mine is usually an hour but if you're scheduling one, expect up to an hour and a half depending on how busy the clinic is.

Yes they are. I have both and go yearly. If you have contacts, you need to go yearly.
