I would rather be an author. Being an actor, I would have to deal with someone else's timetable. Also, I would have to constantly deal with being in front of a camera. I'm not just talking about on the movie set. Actors and actresses are always in the public's eye. I think I would rather have some privacy.
Not to mention, I would rather write the book and then have someone base a movie on it. People always say - "The book was better than themovie."

Definitely an Author. I like writing what I'm seeing in my head, what I'm feeling, what I'm imagining could happen, being in control of the story, hoping and wishing that when the day is done, I feel great about all of the hard work that I've put in for that day also having that feeling of satisfaction that once it's written and I'm pleased with it, that whomever reads it will be just as ecstatic as I am. Of course that's when the book hits the shelves and sell out and I wind up getting a best seller to possibly a Pulitzer. Yeah I dream big. I have 2 manuscripts already, one is complete the other is being blocked by my other duties to society. But I'll finish that one soon too.

Author, more than likely would be more intelligent than actor. Actors/actresses get old quick.

I would go with writing all the way. Acting (at least I assume in hollywood) means if you're successfull you have to deal with the paparazzi....I would truly rather be a fry cook than a famous actor.
Also, being a good author means plenty of great money, without all the drama and photo ops.
When was the last time you heard about Stephen King's new wife or Tom Clancy's adopted African baby? (madonna did movies too, so that counts).

Author because Hollywood demands too much and gives back too little for me to even think of going there. Besides, I'm more the writer then the actor.

Sorry, I'm afraid I can't choose. I've been an actor most of my life and always thought there is no greater rush. But now that I am approaching a later stage of life, I find I'm having a great deal to say, many experiences and lessons to share. Thus, I have begun writing. The rush is just as strong.
