don't go with gray, go more with green/jade shadows, browns and definitely plums/violets! you can do a smoky eye with these colors as well to play up your eyes or just to make them pop. i listed some websites above. you can just substitute the colors they tell you to use for the colors to match your eye color.

go to ulta.com they have some of the best eyeshadows and they are fairly cheap, since you have green eyes, i would recommend that you use a brown instead of a grey. take a taupe brown, a dark (almost black) brown and a brown thats in between those two and work with that. try sable, olive and cashmere (those are all colors in the ulta eyeshadow collection) and start with the darkest and line your eyes with it. take the next darkest color and just line that on top and blend a little. take the third color and fill in the rest of the eye lid up to the brow. it works great. the trick is having good make up brushes too. I would recommend a slanted brush, japonesque has it so does mac. its fantasic for lining eyes. if you choose to use an eyeliner, it makes it tooooo heavy, the brush gives it the look without being so heavy. i hope this helps

Keep using the dark colors, just use less. They are more concentrated in their pigments so you just need a small amount.
If you don't have access to a professional-level brush set, use qtips to blend/smudge those darker colors.
Then, finally try highlighting the browbone (area below your eyebrow and above your eyelids) and under eye with an apricot colored (or flesh toned) eye shadow once you are done. This helps your eye look more smoky and less herion-addict looking.
As far as buying your make up at regular stores, it's good for just starting out. Revlon makes a decent loose powder shadow. It comes in little pots. Try the white one for highlighting. Rimmel (i think that's at target and or walmart) has a great dark blue and gray. But honestly if you just spend a little bit more (I mean like 5 dollars more a shadow) you can afford to buy MAC cosmetics. And if I were you I'd buy just a few MAC shadows, maybe a pencil liner then a lot of the store brands stuff.

Okay i use ANYTHING!
personally MAC works the best,
but it is also some what expensive..
I would go to target and buy anything
Loreal Paris, or MAX factor..
Both of those brands have a great and
strong color
loreal Paris is more to enhance your eye coulour
if you go to this link, then you can see the different shades and see witch 4 would look the best on you,
http://www.lorealparis.ca/en/cosmetics/index_wi.asp
Your going to need a really dark color, a dark color, a medium color and a light color, and they all have to be in the same family (ie: pastels, browns, grays, yellows, oragnes, blacks)
here is the link to the MAX factor website, there to you can pick out the shades that will shhow off your eyes..
http://www.maxfactor.com/user/get/product_details.do?lookupId=eyes_shadow_maxeye_shadows
On this website you have to buy a trio, witch can work perfectally.. I would personally use BEACH BROWN on you, after ready your self description.
After you collect either 3 or 4 eyeshadows this is what to do:
Get the lightest shade and apply it all over the eye, all the way up to the eyebrow!
Now get the darkest shade and line in up with the crease in the middle of your eye.
Get the medium colors and apply where needed ( i usually put it somewhere around the middle crease to add drama to it!
Then I would get a dark dark black eye liner, and line the bottom. lalong with that add mascara, like 6 or 7 cotes.. Just make sure it dosent clump!
If you follow this link, MAX FACTOR has a really great mascara.

here is MAX factors eyeliner of my choice..

the name of the eyeliner is,
100 Night Club
Finish the look with using this lip stick,

product of my choice:

I recomend layers of colors
Start with white or the lightest do your whole lid up to the eybrow, then the medium color then do that from the lid to below the brow bone so you still have your white or light color showing around the eyebrow, then from the middle point of the puple when your eyes are looking stright (*) over towards the end of your brow in the draker shade i recomend a good small eye shadow brush to do this thenblend the edge of the eyebrow area with the darker shade.
After you do this remember to get out a tooth brush or eyebrow brush and comb your eyebrows to remove and white shadow

get a shimmery neutral shade
a matte grey
and a dark charcoal or black
A good brand is Revlon.
First take your shimmery shade and sweep the inside of your top lid and just under your eyebrows, lightly.
Then sweep the grey shade from the outside corner to right along the upper lashline.
Finally take your charcoal or black and apply it from the outside corner into the crease of they eyelid. Blend it into the grey on your upperlashline as well.
Hope this helps.

All you need is a smudge brush. I have eyeliner from Maybelline, the pencil kind that you twist up, and on the other end is a smudge brush. Apply the eyeliner, then smudge it up for smokiness.
It's a pain to wash off though, so I tend to use liquid eyeliner on the top lid and bottom, then pencil over it and smudge. It makes it so you don't need so much pencil. Liquid is easier to wash off.

use a black and gray eyeshadow ( the gry on the inside ) and use an eye liner (in the upper eye lid) and an eye definer ( it is placed in the lower eye lid only).
