is it ok to where any kind of navel ring or do it have to be sterling silver?

i have some that i brought from wal mart or target. do they have to be like real silver or does it even matter? because i dont want it to get infected

Probably not. In rare cases some people become spontaneously alergic to silver. I don't know if silver makes it any more or less likely to become infected. Silver may become tarnished, depending on how acidic or basic your skin is.

Some people have more sensitive skin than others. Have you ever got infected areas on your ear from wearing costume jewelry earrings?

That might help clue you in.
