Today is the 34th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision that said women have a constitutional right to abort their pregnancy.

The United States of America is one of the few countries in the world that allows abortions at any month or trimester of pregnancy for any reason.

What do you think? Please answer from one of the following choices

1) I agree with the Supreme Court's decision in Roe v. Wade. Abortion should be available at any month or trimester for any reason.
2) Abortion should only be allowed in the first trimester for specified reasons
3) Abortion should be allowed in the first or second trimester for specified reasons
4) Abortion is murder; it should only be permitted for rape cases or if mother might die from childbirth
5) Abortion should always be illegal

PLEASE state your answer choice (1,2,3,4 or 5) before elaborating on your answer.

Answer 2.
Btw imagine how many of these unwanted births would be in Iraq today having no other alternative in life other than enlisting? See how abortion is also a political issue not moral.

Answers 2/3:

Abortion is severely restricted by many state laws so your second comment should really be reconsidered. Abortion should always be allowed if the health of the mother is at stake. The fact is that women have been terminating their pregnancies from antiquity. It will always be a reality and the question is whether we want to criminalize it by putting women and doctors in prison. I don't think this is a good solution - just a bigger problem. Education is key. Abstinance only sex-education is a joke - 95% of Americans have sex before marriage and those who take abstince pledged usually only last 1 1/2 years and then engage in high risk sex because they have been falsely taught that condoms don't work. Half of all pregancies in the U.S. are unintended and half of those end in abortion. We need to cut the first number to cut the second number. Criminalizing abortion isn't the answer.

Compare the following:
- In the U.S. nearly 1/4 of all pregancies end in abortion.
- In Brazil, where abortion is illegal there are twice as many abortions as the U.S.
- In the Netherland, where there are the most liberal abortion laws
in the world, there are 1/2 as many abortions as the U.S.

It should be everyone's goal to reduce abortions - but let's be smart about it. Real education makes the difference not laws.

Answer choice: #2. In my opinion though, abortion should not be used as birth control and should be punishable by law if a woman receives more than one abortion w/o it being absolutely necessary. Like instances of rape, fatal birth diseases, and as mentioned the mother might die from child birth. There are women (plural) I know who have received 2 and 3 abortions. In each of these cases, there was no extreme circumstance- just lack of responsibility, safe sex, birth control, etc. This is an issue that Roe vs. Wade made possible 34 yrs, ago. How can it legally be put into affect? How can you deny one mistake when you allowed another? If we as a people deny her, the child may end up in a garbage can, born with defects and such from drug abuse and lack of nutrition and care during pregnancy. The child may die of starvation, or lack of health care or nutrition and not grow correctly. There little minds won't be nourished and affectionately led in the right directions. I don't know if I can live with that result either. That is why this question is so hard. It is so personal, and passionately felt on both sides. I am torn. I stand by choice #2, but see the conflict within.

1 and 2...supreme court just protected a woman's right to choose...the states decide what the parameters are...and in my state it is in the first trimester, with informed consent. And those are good laws, made to further protect women, not designed to limit access to healthcare. I believe that provisions for a woman's health should be included in ALL abortion law, whether it is late term or otherwise. And no, I don't think women need to OK their reasons with anybody else, that is what informed consent is for...educating a woman to ALL of her options. And they are honest about what it takes to KEEP a baby,as well.. The Supreme court ruled that this was largely a privacy matter, and so was the Terry Shaivo case. Goverment has no place in the doctor's office. And if abortion is murder, it shouldn't be OK to abort for the reason of women's health, right? I mean, murder is murder...

5- I couldn't help but see mostly men answering this question. I've never been pregnant. In Ms. some fools are trying to pass legilation to make women thinking of abortion manatory view a somograhm and hear the babies heart beat before abortion. Talk about morbid a-s-s-h-o-l-es. I think those dirty little girls should go back to clothes hangers and the ons that got pregnant by rape and incest give birth. GOD GOD GOD. Punish those dirty girls for being with you dirty boys. So when is it going to be against the law like in old testiment times to bang off boys? I believe every egg that drops in a woman be fertilized and everybody have 15 or 20 kids or at least till the woman dies. Sperm lives to are you going initiate wakingoff police? This sounds as stupid as men with opinons about something that has NOTHING to do with them.

3) Abortion should be allowed in the first or second trimester for specified reasons

I believe in the individual's right to make a decision to have an abortion or not, it is not up to the state to dictate. I do not favor abortion as a birth control means

I would choose 1 if it was correct. Abortion is not allowed for any reason in any trimester.

And #4 shows the incredible hypocricy of the anti-abortion minority. If you believe it's a baby, how does the circumstances of its creation have anything to do with anything?

Roe has improved the lives of countless millions of women and men, and has injured no one.

And objecting to abortion being used as birth control is ignorance beyond comprehension. Abortion is inherently birth control. What do you think it is?

Door number 4.
The constitution only protects rights or choices a person is born with. No woman has a natural means by with she can abort a fetus, therefore she was never born with that choice available to her.
