Possibly because your expertise in gaming has led to a deficiency in writing ability. Go do your homework.

I like this question.

I learned how to play golf by playing video games.
Learned how to play baseball by playing video games.

Learned a lot about history through playing strategic combat simulations.

I use to play the first person shooters and that was like... conditioning. You have games out like Ghost Recon where the realism in it is kinda scarey. The video games could condition children to become some pretty dern good killers.

I think, even the military used video games as combat simulation training once. Don't know if they still do that... it's not a bad idea.

Played a lot of strategy games when I was little and by the time I was your age, I honestly thought I could successfully take over the world... probably could've too... lol

It's good you're not exposed to mature games at an early age. Your parents should have a grudge.

I suspect what your parents have a grudge against is more your obsession with gaming...not most games (although there are certainly some games that are inappropriate for adults let alone a 14 year old). When any activity consumes too much of your time and interest, especially when it is done to the exclusion of other important things in your life, the activity is no longer good for you...it has become an addiction.

Not enough information. What is your grade point average? Do you have any idea what you want to do as a career? Do the money for the games (hardware, software, peripherals) come out of your pocket or their pocket? Do you have a social life outside of gaming? Do you have any functional skills? What was your income last year? How much have you saved for your college education? How much free time do you spend on gaming compared to other activities that could give you a well balance skill set that can help you in the work place? When are you moving out? Do you feel that the primary function in your parents life is to keep you entertained? How long is your attentions span when it comes to performing mundane task, like in the work place? Do you even have a girl friend? Just the basics.

Several reasons: One, you may spend way too much time beating games and not doing your homework, chores, or playing with others (social development), sorry but it's obvious from your question that you don't have 14 year old comprehension of the English language. Two, many console and PC games have the gamer acting in highly illegal situations i.e. killing police offers in order to steal a car, etc... These are not the best for developing a good sense of ethics.

I'm a firm believer in video games and I've played for 20+ years, but I carefully monitor what games my kids play, make sure they balance play time with jobs/homework/social times and steer them towards games that help them develop their mental processes.

no you can't die from it. Parents don't like it because it is not healthy. you should be out and about running around. when you play games you aren't using any energy. This in turn can lead to obesity which is a huge problem. It's not just that though, some games are really violent and sickening quite frankly and i think parents don't like the influence this could be having on their kids. Hope this helps. :)

My kids are 9 and 11 and I have nothing against video games, but I don't let them get games with a mature rating, they are too young.

Not a great future in being a gamer. Not much chance to help our culture expand!

Gaming can't kill, but parents can.
