My band can't decide whether to stay with black metal or if we should change to death. Decide for us.

Really hard to choose, right dude. Just do this way :
Which kind of those both genre that your member of the band love most ? After you have an answer and still make you crazy to decide, then believe in your heart, i mean the heart of all member of your band. Everything that connected to music must be connected with the heart from all of you. As you said that you are right now in black metal, so i think all the members of your band are loving to be in black metal band. So i think it's better to keep it that way, cause choosing or changing a genre is really a hard thing to decide. So keep on rolling.

Black horns for me. And hail to you all.

you should try doing a fusion of both or just write using both influences, sometimes certain riffs from both genres tied together can sound really good. my band does both and people like it you can go from black metal to death metal and its like seeing the best of both types. you give people a better feel of diversity in music and how you are not limited to one genre.

To stick to one genre is kind of pigeonholing you, you should play whatever you think sounds good, and if that includes black and death metal than so be it! You'll attract more fans when you a bit more diverse.

Your band should know no boundaries. Do them BOTH!! Be a trailblazer!! Make it something no one has ever seen before. A band that does both. Good Luck!
