About 25 years ago I rented this video With Red Foxx and he described this term as it came from the blacks That was the only time I have herd of where it came from when one would say to the other that he wanted to f the others mother then he became a mother f-er or someone in the neighborhood was f-ing someones mother he became a mother-fer and so on and so on

You say it doesn't make sense? Sure it does.

It means "a big one". Once a woman has delivered a child (and thus become a mother), she has been stretched to require a larger size.

First known usage of the term was in 1918, by the way. The form mother****ing has been traced back farther, to 1889, and it seems to have originated in Texas.

The answer's gonna be a bit rude.... But anyway... Sorry about that explanation.
It comes from an arabian insult saying " I s***w your mother" witch is the worth insult in arabian language. That's what have been told to me when I asked the same question in French.....
