It's spelled, "Kearney", so I thought it was pronounced "KERNEY(slient "a")", but I was repeatedly told that it's pronounced "CARNEY"(like veteran actor/"The Honeymooners" co-star Art Carney)...

Why is that?...I don't want to hurt the town's feelings, but i don't want to sound like a dummy either...

Here's a better one Norfolk is pronounced Norfork!?!

"Hey, I went to go see your FORKS the other day"

Even the "forks" who live there cannot explain this one to me.
