I worked in an Emergency room as a Patient Advocate. It was an extremely high stress job but most fulfilling. The people that I met on a daily basis, both patients and their loved ones from all backgrounds always had the same things in common when they came into the ER. They were nervous, scared & they needed someone to be there for them to walk them through a difficult time. And I was that person. It was many a night when I finished my shift that I asked myself why I kept doing this & all I had to do was think back to one smiling face, one hug or one thank you. Then I knew the reason why I kept on giving to these wonderful human beings. I saw many gross & disgusting things over the years but behind all these things was the same beautiful common thread that binds us all together. The fact of knowing that some one else really cares, while the Drs & nurses who also care but don't really have the time to sit & talk & cry with a person & let them know that they are important . Yes, it's a stressful job but I love it because I love people.

I've had a great time running and working in pubs for 30 years. The best time was when we also did bed and breakfast. It was not the top end of the market ,a clean and comfortable home from home.We had loads of guests who were in show business. The military.Lorry drivers.Contract workers in the Building trade. The stories they had to tell were amazing and such fun.In the time we ran it we had hundreds of guests and there was only one I didn't take to.I didn't really charge enough (its no wonder I was popular)so didn't make a fortune but it was subsidised by the pub I suppose. The pubs did very well at first but become dogged by rules and regulations over the years .It became difficult to make a living in the end .Rents ,business rates ,insurance and licences for all and sundry hardly made it worthwhile.A land lord and land lady were respected members of society when we started the job.Not now --believe you me they will give a pub to anybody with a bit of money and the time to go on a licencing course.Everyday something different happened you were part of all your customers happy times and sad times.I always say it was like going to a party that started in1976 and finished in 1996.I ended up being somebody elses barmaid after that.

Yes, I had an IT job in banking for most of my life. The money was OK. The work was analytical - encountering issues, researching for answers & contacting the users with the resolutions. It was not prestigious - although our department DID win a helpdesk award a couple of years back. But, it was the PEOPLE that made me happy to get up & go to work each & every day. A truly amazing group that worked together like the workings of a fine watch. I may get another job, but, I don't know if I will EVER work with a whole group of such terrific people again.

I'm a teacher..been doin it 5 years and I love it. I've noticed a few others have said they are teachers and love their job. Working with kids is the most enjoyable form of work, cos they are such good company. I can be myself...and even wackier! it's also a nice feeling to be in charge!

I don't work for the money... money's just a bonus!! The main reason teachers do what they do is for the love of their job. If u can do it...it's the most rewarding job there is. The only downside is the workload in terms of paperwork, but otherwise I'm very happy! :)

To date the greatest job I ever had was my first job as a kid. I worked for a family fun park in a tourist town in northern Wisconsin. I worked a variety of positions ranging from running the rides to acting as a train robber for the kids every hour on the hour.

I think the reason I enjoyed this so much was that I got to meet new people every day and I got the chance to enjoy people's vacations with them. Everyone was always having so much fun... it was a truly positive environment.

Pay was minimum wage and as it was a part time job benefits did not exist. My joy came from the job itself and the environment provided by the employer.

I worked for a Solicitors in Hampshire when I was 18. I absolutely loved it, the work, the people and the location. Sitting on a summers day in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral having lunch. I got married and moved to Germany so had to leave. I would still have been there if I hadn't gone abroad.

I had a job that I loved... I worked for a restoration company... when I started I started as a receptionist but by the time I left there they had created my own position for me... I had great relationships with all of our customers, vendors, suppliers, and employees that's what I loved the most... the money was ok but it was working with the customers that made me love my job... what finally made me leave was my bosses... they were male chauvenist, self centered pigs that never acknowledged just what I did for the company and I ended up quitting... found out a little while after I left that they almost went bankrupt... had to downsize the company by about three quarters...

Yes, I was a medical artist. The people were terrific (pub nearly every night), job satisfaction sky high, prestige reasonable (sounded more interesting that it actually was, but was always a conversation stopper), money lousy. I was young and thought all jobs were like this; I wanted more glamour and left only to regret it ever since.

My favorite job was working in a Wine and Cheese store (the guy owned 2 separate stores in a market place). My boss was an asshole but the people I worked with were really nice and I learned a ton!! I never used to like blue cheese but now I love it and I have such an appreciation for wine and my friends joke that I'm a wino.

Oh Yea! I was the House Manager at a regional theatre getting paid to work in the arts. I love working with people and provided for their comfort and well-being. I got to meet some famous people (besides the local celebrities).

It was also a bit of a power trip because I was responsible of all pre-show and intermission facilities for our patrons from the time they entered the building until the time they left.
